on asking motorists to play nice

need to bank this CCW WF line about the "3 feet please" thing for future reference.

This provoked a response from David Love in the Comments, who among things writes:

Sure, segregation would be great but in London at least there's no room and no money so it's not going to happen.
Campaigning for behaviour change is more realistic right now

And there you have the ???realism??? of a man who is LCC Trustee and Vice Chair.

amazing how people think psychology is simpler than engineering.

Isn’t it just… There is nothing more difficult than changing what people do, without doing anything at all to make a new pattern of behaviour more attractive. This type of "realism", which is actually an excuse to not actually face up to the problems facing cycling, has no place in campaigning for the change that is required in Britain. When someone who represents one of the major cycle campaigning organisations in the UK can’t get past the level of the most simple myths and excuses then they are standing in the way of progress, not helping progress to be made.

It may be worth pointing out, as a matter of factual record, that David Love was voted off the board of trustees of LCC in a contested election at the last AGM, November 2011.
